Supervising and mentoring activities

Teaching and tutoring good quality science is a key objective of my career.

 2019- Supervisor for the Thesis titled “Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness and mechanisms of peripheral and central sensitization” and “Short manual treatment for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness a randomized controlled trial”. 

2008- I have been tutor at the Physiotherapy course at University of Milan and in 2014 I’ve been supervisor for the Thesis titled “Rehabilitation of chronic back pain in small groups: effects on pain intensity functioning and health- a quasi randomized clinical trial”. 

Physiotherapy Activity

I achieved the professional qualification in Physiotherapy in 2008 and I am member of the OrdinedelleProfessioniSanitarieTecnichedellaRiabilitazione e Prevenzione  since 20/12/2018. My professional traineeship in Physiotherapy was oriented to Neurological Rehabilitation and rehabilitation of chronic and acute musculoskeletal pain syndromes. I had many important experiences in many the most important hospitals of Milan, with two soccer team in B league and also with dancers.

 

Science Communication

Besides academic goals and achievements, I believe that public engagement and science communication is a crucial aspect of being a good researcher.

since 2013, I share comments on clinical cases happened in my daily clinical practice and on scientific papers I read especially on Tweeter (@giacomocart2014).

Trattamento neurodinamico (NDT) dei nervi periferici

Numerosi studi clinici dimostrano che il trattamento neurodinamico (NDT) è efficace nel ridurre il dolore. Tuttavia sono ancora sconosciuti i meccanismi biologici che promuovono i processi di guarigione del nervo indotti dall’NDT, con una conseguente mancanza di protocolli standardizzati. Lo studio pubblicato su Scientific Reports dal gruppo NICO di Rigenerazione dei nervi colma questa lacuna, aumentando la conoscenza dei meccanismi biologici attivati ​​in risposta all’applicazione del neurotensionamento, e aiutando a comprenderne l’efficacia nel trattamento del dolore.
